I am writing this letter to share my story with your and your clients. As a SAG actor from Philadelphia, I found breaking into the New York market to be extremely difficult. I had no representation, and the responses to my mailings were tepid, at best. I knew that if I wanted to even complete for the attention fo the top agents, my headshots would need to have a more professional look. Nothing but the best would suffice, so I immediately began research on the best photographers in NYC.
Inevitably, a friend in my acting class recommended Robert Kim Photography, and I made an appointment to see your books. Now I have to be honest here, I went in half- expecting to be quoted some outrageous, inflated rate by a photographer who was full of himself with an overblown ego…after all, the reputation of your studio precedes itself with numerous industry referrals and celebrity clienteie. I could not have been more wrong. Imagine my surprise when I not only was sold twenty minutes after reviewing your materials; but actually had such a great rapport and conversation with you, that we wound up catching a show my friend was performing in that night… and have been friends ever since. My session with you that shortly followed was remarkable to say the least; nailing virtually all looks and shots that I was looking to achieve. Moreover, the reasonable rate I was charged had me under the distinct impression that you had brought the price down a bit for a friend, until I found that you offer the same sensible rates to all of your clients.
That was December of 2003.
I have since relocated to Los Angeles after working with Abrams Artists in New York for over a year and wrapping as the lead in the independent film “Casanova’s Demise.” I am now signed with DDO/Meridian’s Commercial and Print division and interviewing several theatrical agents here in Los Angeles. I am still using your headshots for everything from 8*10s and letterhead to business and postcards, as all of the agents that I will most assuredly continue to recommend your service to any and everyone in the business I come across that is looking for a great photographer that can help them get to the next level of their career. You are truly an artist with an “eye” for catching a subject’s look with honesty and, most importantly, integrity.
